A block of boiled down guava pulp and sugar. Popular throughout Brazil, this is usually served as dessert accompanied by plain white cheese. The combination is what Brazilians call ‘Romeo and Juilet’.

You’ll often find brands of Goiabada described as ‘Goiabada cascão’, guava paste with toothsome chunks of the slow-cooked candied peel suspended throughout.
