Also called: Macaxeira, Mandioca, Aipim
A large root vegetable (similar to a yam) which is Brazil’s favourite choice of starch. It’s used in hundreds of different recipes from starters to desserts, cakes and even bread. The natural root has to be cooked before it’s consumed as it contains some ingredients which could be poisonous when eaten raw.

Bonje, can I grow cassava roots in my backyard? I live in north of Italy and summer is quite hot. Air is even more than 35°.
Obrigado
Problem is you’ll need a cutting of the cassava plant. The tree won’t grow from the cassava itself :-( Quite where you go in Italy to get a cassava tree cutting it’s another big matter. If anyone can help please let us know.
I am looking for Tina’s cheese buns that I’d seena couple of weeks ago, but cannot find now. Please help. thanks, sophie
