Get involved in our wacky idea!

There comes a time when every young man wants a pad of his own, far away from his interfering mum and dad. A place where you can be the master of your domain and do whatever you’d like.
For young Pedro de Alcântara Francisco António João Carlos Xavier de Paula Miguel Rafael Joaquim José Gonzaga Pascoal Cipriano Serafim de Bragança e Bourbon - or Prince Pedro I, as his mates called him, that time came on the 7th of September of 1822. His dad had recently returned to Lisbon and left him keeping him an eye on this big fun place called Brazil. And he had so much fun that when dad called him back home he pronounced what must have been an imperial version of Kevin’s “IT’S SO UNFAIR!!” and declared that from that day on Brazil was independent from Portugal and that his subjects would have only one choice to make “INDEPENDENCE OR DEATH!!”
As it turns out, one of the prince’s favourite pursuits was consuming vast amounts of nosh. So, to celebrate this year’s Independence Day, London based Brazilian food writer and online chef Nando Cuca decided to start a new tradition - “THE BRAZILIAN INDEPENDENCE RESTAURANT CRAWL”.
This Sunday 7th September, him and his mates will leave his home in SW London around lunch time and visit every Brazilian restaurant in London, crossing the finishing line at Guanabara (Holborn) some time before midnight. Considering that the list of Brazilian establishments has been growing steadily over the last 5 years, Nando will have his work cut out and will have to race against the clock to patronise some 22 addresses in less 12 hours. And to add a touch of royal indulgence to his adventure he’ll be trying to convince each restaurant he visits to distribute some free drinks or food to whoever is around when he passes by.
